Individuals The last few months have been a challenge to many and the uncertainty of the future does not help the situation. Many are struggling, mentally, physically and financially. The mental struggle is the worst. I have been involved in helping people get through problems and would offer my help to anyone that wants to share the load. Happy people create happy communities. | Communities Our community is the heart of society. The community is made up of individuals, families, associations, sport clubs, cultural clubs, etc. As members of the community, we need to protect what we have and ensure that our community has much to offer for our members and the future. This is how communities thrive. Communities often depend on volunteers, we need to encourage as many people to not only be the spectator but get involved. Let’s build strong communities. | Businesses Living in a small rural town I see the need for businesses to be successful. There are many struggling small businesses that are vital to our towns. Having owned several small businesses myself, I am well aware of the challenges that business owners face. I am here to help small businesses by listening and suggest options as well as bringing the right people together. Sometimes sharing a problem is halving the problem. I will encourage a network people that can help one another. |
Going back a while...
I have lived in a few countries in my life, which I think gives me a greater appreciation for diversity and culture in our communities. I was born in Germany and as a six year old my family moved to South Africa. Here I went to school, studied and worked as a student for practical experience. This is also where I met by better half.
After my stint in South Africa, we moved to Namibia, this is where the better half was from. Got married. Worked for an IT company but shortly decided to go it on my own. Owned and operated a small IT business as well as produced Multimedia CD’s. Also started a family and two of our boys were born here.
After 8 years, it was time to move on again and as Germany had a shortage of IT professionals, decided to take up employment with a travel agent as IT Co-Ordinator. Sadly, the company struggled financially and I lost my job.
Kept busy with what I knew best and provided IT Support during the day and managed the Football Pub at night. Also managed to increase our family from 4 to 5. After 5 years, the itch got too big and started to look for a new destination.
New Zealand got the bid. So, since 2006, we have been living in this beautiful country and as of December 2020 are citizens.
My Community
“No man is an island” this is something I strongly believe in. We need one another and are dependent/reliant on each other. I feel we all have something to contribute to our communities. We all have a bit of spare time, become a volunteer or coach. I am a Lion, Chairperson of Te Ara Pae Trust, have been a member of Business Association, coached football, etc. I enjoy being an active person in our community and if I can’t help personally, I sponsor teams and events as well.

Work Experience | Interests and Activities | |
I have been interested in business and how it functions since a very young age. At high school, I already earned my pocket money by servicing cars in the neighborhood as well as spray painting jobs in the holidays. Later as a student, I was involved in a few great projects. I am an ideas person and have had quite some experience along the way, might not have always been the best experiences, but experience never the less.
| I am passionate about my environment and the people in our communities. I try to get involved or support where possible.
